To celebrate South Asian Heritage Month, we present Taare Zameen Par - another part of our popular Film Clubs. Taare Zameen Par - 2007- (Like Stars on Earth) is a well-known Hindi language film exploring the family and school life of an eight-year old boy. It became critically acclaimed not only for its moving story but for the depiction and open conversation of dyslexia. Along with our two-person expert panel, we will take questions and comments from the audience to discuss: - dyslexia and the cycle of change - cultural identity in psychiatry - the role of film in medical education.

Our speakers are:

Dr Sunil Khushalani: Consultant Psychiatrist, Sheppard Pratt Hospital, Baltimore

Dr Khizar Khan: Consultant Psychiatrist, Sheppard Pratt Hospital, Baltimore

Please watch the movie beforehand as this will not be a screening. For UK viewers it is available on Netflix.
